Supermarkets in Germany – Variety on every shelf

A bitter battle is fought in Germany. The fight for the favour of the customers for their daily need of fruit, vegetables, drinks and other basic foodstuffs. This is the rivalry of the food discounters Aldi and Lidl. Both offer the customer a variety of different own products and a handful of branded products at low prices. In recent years, this variety has been supplemented by weekly changing products in order to guide customers into the shopping halls. The aim here is always to offer the customer the best offer between price and performance. Whether Dirdl before the Oktoberfest, Christmas lights in December or sports articles directly in the new year, the two competitors always surprise with really good products. In the past, Aldi PCs in particular were the cause of long queues in front of shops and disappointed faces after the limited goods were sold out. Discounters now have their own online shops and offer to buy their goods from the comfort of their own homes.

Company presentation in Pecha-Kutcha style

CMO Sebastian Meier from myGermany GmbH accepted the challenge of the Jena Technology Fight-Night on November 22nd and «fought» against 13 other start-ups for the interest of network partners, institutions, investors and potential customers. This was preceded by a company presentation of the own company during the day, which was transferred into the form of Pecha-Kutcha with the help of the coaches of the Jenaer Art-Kon-Tor. This is a presentation form, with which altogether 15 slides are used, which are faded in in each case for exactly 20 seconds. The presentation took place in the evening in front of an audience of around 150 people, who listened to the lectures with excitement and amusement. In the aftermath of the event, the visitors were able to contact the respective StartUps and talk about potential networks. Even if we did not leave the square as winners of the event, we were able to win many advocates and potential investors for ourselves, Sebastian Meier summed up after the successful event.

myGermany GmbH among the TOP 50 companies in Germany

On November 29, 2018, we were invited by the leading portal of the founder scene in Germany to Berlin as TOP 50 companies for the award of the Growth Award 2018. This was preceded by an application phase in which the sales of the last three years had to be submitted with the confirmation of the tax consultant. Using a specially developed calculation formula consisting of average sales growth (CAGR) and company age, the founding scene and KPMG selected the winners for 2017/2018. myGermany achieved a remarkable 24th place out of more than 300 applications. This is remarkable because almost all higher ranked companies have one, sometimes even two or three financing rounds behind them and have already used the money for scaling. We are very proud to have been invited to this event and look forward to the coming business year with full confidence, summarizes Christian Schmalisch, CEO of myGermany GmbH.

Startport Duisburg invites to Investor Pitch

November 2018, Startport Duisburg invites to Investor Pitch

Christian Schmalisch and Sebastian Meier explained the all-round package for the handling of shipments of German products abroad to around 100 guests: from packaging and customs formalities to the handling of goods routes abroad. With 11 companies supported by StartPort, myGermany presented its company concept from its foundation in 2012 in the garage until today, and among other things presented its plans for the next five years. In addition to the classic parcel forwarding business, the aim is to set up an online shop where products from selected German retailers are sold to international end customers. International marketing and complete logistics fulfillment including customs clearance will be handled by myGermany. The retailer no longer has to worry about anything. The focus in the next few years will be on service for German dealers. «Our business case has proven itself with over 20,000 international end customers and our infrastructure is up and running. Now is the time to revolutionize the international non-European Cross Border Shopping for German retailers» says Christian Schmalisch, Managing Director at myGermany. A new warehouse and some marketing campaigns on the German market are planned.
At the end of the Event Christian Schmalisch and Sebastian Meier have five discussions with interested investors.
