Helau and Alaf - Happy Karneval - myGermany.com

Karneval, also called Fasching and Fastnacht, is getting closer. On Rosenmontag, the 27th February and the weekend before German cities will be filled by colours, clowns, witches, cats, pirates… as everyone will go out onto the streets wearing masks and costumes to take part in the public event. Cities as well as smaller towns will have parades and public parties out on the streets. Some of the largest celebrations take place in Cologne, Mainz and Düsseldorf, with extensive parades and floats through the streets and thousands of participants every year. Do you have celebrations like these in your country?

Find out more about the Karneval traditions in Germany here – one thing is for sure: Karneval is not Karneval without the perfect costume for you. Check out our partners now and find your perfect mask and outfit for this year's Fasching/Karneval/Fastnacht celebration.
